Womaen’s Caucus of the Church of the Brethren

Our Projects

Caucus serves the women of the Church of the Brethren in many ways.

We support the voices and participation of women in all levels of the Church of the Brethren, from serving as pastors to serving as representatives on national and local boards to serving internationally in community service to serving as regular members of local congregations.

We educate and advocate for the renewal of the denominational name, to a name more accurately descriptive of who we are.

We provide scholarships to emerging women religious leaders in the Church of the Brethren.

We produce a newsletter, Femailings, three times a year, exploring different facets of the experience of being feminist Brethren (which DOES sound like an oxymoron to us, too!)

We will be launching a new curriculum for local feminist consciousness-raising groups, to be used in a variety of settings, to spark conversations among feminist Brethren about their faith, their church, and their relationships to each other. The curriculum will consist of a variety of short videos, articles, and discussion questions, to serve as an introduction to the conversations that can naturally spring out of any gathering of thoughtful, faithful, active people. Stay tuned for more information as that project is officially unveiled!

Hey! You folks do great work! But wouldn’t it be cool if you also did some sort of project that provided, I don’t know, a curriculum for groups that wanted to, say, raise people’s consciousness of feminism in the church? Yeah, that would be neat.
